Happy May!! This month we celebrate Celiac Disease.
What is that, you may ask?
Celiac disease is a chronic digestive and immune disorder that damages the small intestine. The disease is triggered by eating foods containing gluten. The disease can cause long-lasting digestive problems and keep your body from getting all the nutrients it needs.
Symptoms:

You may experience digestive issues as well as symptoms in different parts of your body. Some people with Celiac have no symptoms.
- Bloating
- Weight Loss
- Abdominal Pain
- Nausea & Vomiting
- Rashes & Hives (Itchy, blistery skin rash)
- Diarrhea/ Constipation
- Headaches and Fatigue
- Swollen Belly
- Foul-smelling stools ( bulky, greasy, yellow)
- Iron Deficiency
Treatment:
You will need to see a specialist. They will advise you to cut out gluten and go on a gluten-free diet. They will refer you to a dietician who will help you maintain a proper, healthy, nutritious, balanced diet. When on a gluten-free diet, ALWAYS check the labels!
Please be cautious with everything you do, and stay safe! 😃
